Some years ago I saw an interesting pic in a Finnish Donald Duck magazine. It had different versions of Donald, from his early animations to today's comic look. And some days ago I thought: What if I did a Sonic version of it? It's his 15th birthday this year and all. So I searched the net for some reference pics and tried to imitate the styles, and after some sketching, CGing and program crashing I came up with this. Behold the lack of decent background, please ignore the fact that the latest Sonic here is far from 3D. And I hope that the katakana writing looks somewhat right. The program I used didn't understand Japanese so I had to improvise.
In the case some of you may not recognize all the styles, from top to clockwise direction:
Sonic the Hedgehog - Mega Drive/Genesis
Sonic 3D - Mega Drive/Saturn
Sonic SatAM TV show
Archie Sonic Comic
Sonic Adventure era
Sonic X TV show
Sonic Riders - GCN/XBox/PS2
Sonic the Hedgehog NextGen (or something)
The timeline here is a bit flexible. E.g. the Archie comics have been going whole this time and their style has changed. Also I have no idea when SatAM was aired on TV.
But anyways...Please feel free to comment.
